THE TAYLOR FAMILY (Pastor Eddie, Elizabeth, Meagan, Holly)

I was born to Noah and Carol Taylor in Nickelsville, Virginia on May 20, 1966 where I have lived all my life. I was saved by the Grace of God in May of 1973 at the age of 7 in a little country church in Snowflake Virginia, and this was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I joined the United States Army in October 1986 and served three years in Germany as a Turret Mechanic on M1A1 Abrams Tanks. While in the Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds Maryland at 7:15pm on February 7, 1987 I surrendered to God, to preach the Glorious Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. On April 6, 1990 I married my one and only Christian wife of eighteen years Elizabeth, whom I love with all my heart. Elizabeth and I have two precious daughters Meagan and Holly. Both daughters are born again by the Grace of God. Of all the statements I could make regarding my family the greatest is “Thank God for my Christian Home.

May God Bless

The Pastor of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church

The term Pastor signifies a shepherd, and well indicates the nature of the relation he sustains to the Church; that of leading, feeding, guiding and guarding the flock committed to his care.

Obtaining a Pastor:

Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church has the right to choose their pastors. No individual, or combination of men, can appoint a pastor or compel Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church to accept a pastor whom the active members have not chosen by their own free will. They may ask, or accept advice; but no man is the pastor of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church until he has been chosen by a majority vote of this Church. Nor does this church require the consent of any person who is not a part of this body (ex-members, non-members, non-attendees, non-Christians, or other Churches).

The pastor of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church will be obtained,

            a. By much prayer (prayer for divine direction).

            b. By election, as the free choice of the active members of the body.

The Pastor’s Authority:

The pastor of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church is placed over the Church by both the Head of the body (Christ), and by the free and voluntary act of the body itself. The pastor has no power (spiritual or temporal), to enforce mandates or inflict penalties.

As a preacher of the Gospel his authority is of a higher kind, in that he is an ambassador from the King of Kings, and speaks with an authority more than human.

True, his words, even in the pulpit, are not beyond question, since they are to be judged by the infallible standard, the Word of God. But in the administration of Church affairs he should secure the cooperation of his members, and gain his object by reason and persuasion, rather than attempt to force compliance by authoritative dictation.

The pastor of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church shall not be a pleaser of man, but a pleaser of God (according to scripture). The pastor of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church must preach the whole council of God.

Length of the Pastorate:

The pastor of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church is elected pastor for an indefinite period.

The pastor may, at anytime resign as he feels the need to do so.

The pastor may be removed for the pastorate at any time with just cause, or whenever he no longer meets the qualifications according to scripture in I Timothy 3:1-7.

No person or group of persons, not affiliated with Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church may remove, or even has the right to suggest that the pastor be removed from the church.

Qualifications of Pastors

The qualifications of  pastors are given in I Timothy 3:1-13. Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church will only ordain male members as preachers and deacons if they meet the qualifications according to scripture. If a person does not meet the scriptural qualifications, he will not even be considered for ordination.

I Timothy 3:1-13

1. THIS is true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

2. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3. Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4. One that ruleth well his own houses, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

5. (For if a man know not how to rule his won house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

6. Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

7. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
